In the area where the natural gas pipeline network is not equipped or not improved, the natural gas from the main pipeline network outside downtown area is compressed, then transported to the Secondary Filling Station in downtown area by trailer. This system with the above process is called Primary & Secondary Filling Station System. The station is called “CNG Primary Filling Station”, which is equipped with natural gas pipeline and compressor package with large capacity. And the other is called “CNG Secondary Filling Station”, which is only used for dispensing CNG. Generally, one Primary Station with capacity of 50,000-100,000m3/d can satisfy 5-10 Secondary Stations.

 Usually, the Primary Station is set up by main pipeline network with high pressure and with low cost. And equipped with two or more than two compressors with large capacity, depth dehydration device, gas storage device, de-fueling post, etc. For satisfying the continual gas filling, every Secondary Station should be equipped one or two trailers with gas storage cylinders and the trailers can go back to the Primary Station for refueling. The Secondary Station is also equipped with the device of de-fueling device, gas storage device, dispensing device, etc.

The development of Primary & Secondary Filling Station make it possible to develop NGV (Natural Gas Vehicles) in cities where are without natural gas pipeline network or without enough gas resource. Moreover, it is cheaper to set up CNG Primary & Secondary Filling Station than to set up routine station and with better economic benefit.
